DuRard, McKenna & Borg traces its roots back more than 60 years when our founder, Ernie Norback, began representing working people in San Francisco. In the mid-1960s Bob DuRard joined the firm and came to personify the unofficial motto: “No cause too hopeless, no case too small.” Well known in local labor circles as well as local courts, Bob DuRard served as an Officer of the San Mateo County Bar Association and the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers’ Associates and was a familiar face at many local charity organizations. Bob DuRard retired from active practice in November 1996 and died in 1999. His spirit remains very much with us today.
Michael G. McKenna joined the firm in 1983 and focused his practice on workers’ compensation and personal injury law, with a special emphasis on third party cases. He was an active member of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association and was a long-time co-chair of that organization’s Labor Committee. McKenna always felt he owed a debt of gratitude to organized labor as his membership in the Marine Cooks and Stewards’ Union allowed him to ship out in 1969 and travel to Asia with the Merchant Marines. He also worked as a member of Hod Carriers Local 36 during law school. A San Mateo native, Michael McKenna’s presence at the firm deepened our practice in the local community. Michael McKenna retired in September 2016, but his spirit, dedication, and work ethic remain as our standard.
Sue Borg joined the firm in 1990 and created a legacy of service to the working men and women of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Under the leadership of Sarah Malerstein and Andrew Lynch, DM&B continues its history of excellence in serving injured workers in throughout the Bay Area.
